As we turn the calendar to May and warmer weather, the start of the season for Madison-area community festivals begins. That means beer tents, live music and carnivals (plus carnival food). Restaurants are continuing the trend of scaling down their New Year’s Eve celebrations. Some events that once charged admission are now free to get in, and other events reduced the admission price, although the offerings seem to also have been reduced.

Here’s a list of major Halloween-related events in the Madison, WI area. Don’t forget that the City of Madison ended Freakfast permanently last year, which was not a surprise since many city officials never liked the event.
Also keep in mind that many bars, such as Gamma Ray Bar and Northside Lounge, will have their own parties and costume contests.
