Point Burger Bar

img_20190208_120722450Point Burger Bar should consider using the slogan for Buffalo Wild Wings with a slight change: Burgers. Beer. Sports. Here, you have plenty of bar area to have a drink (including 30 beers on tap) and watch the game, and you have lots and lots of burger choices.

First, let me tell you about building your own burger. You can customize everything, including the patty (e.g. salmon, portabello mushroom) and the toppings (e.g. ghost peppers, tzatziki). I made a duck burger–the patty was juicy and had good duck flavor–with mushrooms, jalapenos and hangover sauce (a semi-sweet Thousand Island) on an onion roll (soft but firm enough to hold together the burger). Along with onion rings, this messy but tasty plate cost $18.25.

I had some difficulty selecting from all the wonderful-sounding specialty burgers. For example, I gave serious consideration to the Heart Stopper ($17.95 with two patties) and the lamb ($13.45). In the end, I am happy I went with the Ward’s prime ($13.95). The shaved prime rib is so tender and delicious that I wish they had it separately as an entree. The horsey sauce was not overpowering, thank goodness, despite how much you get.

I did try one non-burger item, and that was the prime rib bites ($8.45). The bacon has a light seasoning of Italian herbs and is just crispy enough that it can still be wrapped around the tender chunks of prime rib. I ordered it because I liked the prime rib so much.

The featured drinks at Point Burger Bar are the alcoholic custard shakes ($10.95). The salted caramel shake is sweet but not overly decadent. I liked it, but it could’ve been stiffer, as you almost can’t tell there’s Jameson in it.

I also tried the Bloody Mary, which is thick, full of spices and comes with string noodle cheese and candied bacon.

Point Burger Bar is open every day for lunch and dinner.
