La Pollera Colombiana serves a nice array of Colombian dishes out of its east side location, which opened in 2022, and a new Middleton location that opened in late 2025.
The restaurant’s logo features a chicken, and you’ll find chicken dishes like the pechuga champinones ($24.14), featuring chicken breast in mushroom sauce, as well as roasted chicken in various portion sizes.
I decided to do 3-for-1 and get the bandeja la pollera ($30.44), which had chicken, steak and pork. The chicken quarter was moist and tender, plus it had a nice char to it. Meanwhile, I liked the flavorful steak despite it being well done and a little chewy, a consequence of being cut so thinly. Same with the tenderloin, which ended up being a bit dry from its thinness.
This monster dish also came with pork skin (a string of pork belly), which was bland and tough in some parts, and plantains, which had an excellent grilled flavor that complemented their sweetness.
La Pollera Colombiana also sports a ton of seafood entrees. I absolutely loved the filete a la criolla ($22.04)–this was the best thing I’ve eaten in recent memory. The white fish was very flaky, tender and not at all bland. It sat in an outstanding Creole sauce that was creamy and savory. You put all of this on a bed of rice, and you get a soothing and comforting meal.
I also enjoyed the empanada Hawaiana ($3.94). The shell was perfectly crispy and golden. Inside were ham, cheese and pineapple, making for a savory and partially sweet empanada. The pineapple chunks appeared to be candied a little bit, if that makes sense, so they were able to hold their form instead of being limp and soggy.
Oddly, the arepa con chorizo ($16.99) was plain tasting, especially compared to all the other dishes I tried. I would have preferred the arepa to be fried more to make it crispier, and I was surprised to see the chorizo, which was a bit dry, in a full sausage form instead of in crumbles.
I didn’t dine during breakfast hours, but I noticed most items come with corn cake, like the calentado con carne ($20.99), which is rice with beans and pork skin, sweet plantains and corn cake; and the desayuno la pollera pechuga ($19.94), which is corn cake with cheese, chicken and eggs.
Both locations of La Pollera Colombiana are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.
