Bodihow Brewing Company

BodhiowBodihow Brewing Company is a multifunctional space in Oregon that houses a small bike shop, coffee shop and brewery. The name stands for “Bunch of Dudes I Hang Out With.” There’s also a drive-thru for coffee orders.

The tap list includes about 10 Bodihow beers plus some guest taps and seasonal beers. I liked that Bodihow doesn’t use cutesy names for their beers:

  • The American pale ale was very smooth, not bitter and had a note of caramel.
  • The lager was excellent–I could drink this all day.
  • The DH amber ale was one of the best I’ve had, with a hint of toasted toffee flavor and no aftertaste that comes with some ambers.

Other beers include the New England IPA and the Chocolate Imperial Stout.

The food list is short, but there’s enough to certainly satisfy your cravings, especially as you’re drinking beer. The chicken wings ($12 for 12) and the pig wings ($14 for six) come with either a dry rub or a spicy dry rub and your choice of sauce on the side.

BodihowBoth the chicken and pork versions were good, as you primarily tasted the rub. I really enjoyed the barbecue dipping sauce, but the jalapeno ranch had too much dill for me.

You can order tacos individually or as a platter with three plus chips and salsa. The chicken mole taco ($4.75) had an unexpected flavor from the dash of citrus crema (red mole) plus cheese and vegetables. In fact, it had a slight resemblance in taste to a banh mi.

The pork belly taco ($4.50) had huge chunks of delicious grilled pork belly, and you get some sweetness from the pineapple pico de gallo. Still, I felt like this taco needed some kind of sauce on top, as the aja verde sauce was lacking.

BodihowThe meat choices for the tacos also are available in burritos and bowls. The carnitas bowl ($10.50) looked dry but was perfect with the right amount of salsa roja and black beans. The carnitas were juicy, too, making this bowl quite satisfying.

One other item I recommend trying is the chips and queso ($10.50), as it comes with fresh, seasoned chips and a wonderful queso. I look forward to a return visit for a breakfast burrito and a smoothie.

Bodihow Brewing Company is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.
