We sure like to celebrate the holidays here in town. Following is a guide to some upcoming holiday parties, shows, races and events in Madison:

Shows

• A Madison Symphony Christmas runs Nov. 30-Dec. 2 at the Overture Center. Tickets are $18-$93.
• “The Nutcracker” runs Dec. 8-26 at the Overture Center. Tickets are $15-$65.
• “A Christmas Carol” runs Dec. 9-23 at the Overture Center. Tickets are $28-$58.
• Hippie X-mas is held Dec. 15 at the High Noon Saloon. Tickets are $10.
• “Guys on Ice” runs Dec. 20-Jan. 1 at the Barrymore. Tickets are $32.
• Santa Baby – A Holiday Burlesque Ball takes place Dec. 21 at the Majestic. Tickets are $10.
• Gospel Carols takes place Dec. 21 at the Alliant Energy Center. Tickets are $15-$45.

Parties

• The annual Children’s Holiday Party is held Dec. 8 at the Fitchburg Community Center. Free to attend.
• The Magnet Winter Fest 80s Holiday Bash is held Dec. 8 at the Rigby. Tickets are $25-$39.99.
• An Ugly Holiday Sweater Party is held Dec. 8 at the Silver Eagle. Free to attend.
• An Ugly Sweater Contest is held Dec. 10 at HopCat. Free to attend.
• The OPEN Annual Holiday Party is held Dec. 13 at the Century House. Tickets are free.
• An Ugly Sweater Party is held Dec. 14 at Red Rock Saloon.
• The Mad Men Holiday Soiree is held Dec. 15 at the Majestic. Tickets are $25.
• An Ugly Holiday Sweater Party is held Dec. 15 at all Nitty Gritty locations. No cost.
• Holiday Glam Happy Hour and Shopping Extravaganza is held Dec. 18 at Hilldale Mall. Free to attend.
• The SMB Madison Jingle and Mingle Party is held Dec. 19 at the Brink Lounge. Tickets are free.
• The 80s vs. 90s Christmas Sweater Ball is held Dec. 22 at the Majestic. Tickets are $5.

Races

• The Santa Swimsuit Run and Beach Party was not scheduled for this year.
• Run, Santa, Run 5K takes place Dec. 1 on the Capitol Square. Fee is $20-$45.
• The Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis is held Dec. 8 at Verona High School.

Other Events

• The Holiday Shopping Extravaganza was not scheduled for this year.
• The Holiday Fantasy in Lights runs Nov. 10-Jan. 1 at Olin Park. Admission is free.
• Zoo Lights is held Nov. 23-Dec. 30 at Henry Vilas Zoo. Free to see.
• Tudor Holiday Dinners with the Philharmonic Chorus of Madison take place Nov. 28-Dec. 2 at the Memorial Union. Tickets are $55-$75.
• Holiday Express runs Dec. 1-31 at Olbrich Gardens. Tickets are $3-$6.
• Christmas Brew ‘N View with the movies “Elf” and “Die Hard” showing respectively Dec. 20 and 22 at the Majestic. Tickets are $5.
