Senjoy Chinese Cuisine

SenjoyLocated on campus, Senjoy Chinese Cuisine follows the same setup as its predecessor, Madison Cuisine, with a build-your-own plate assembly line.

Unlike other similar concepts that offer only a handful of items like General Tso’s chicken, Senjoy has a wide selection of meat and vegetable choices that pair with either rice, fried rice or lo mein. My favorite was the spicy fish, which was tender and flaky and served unbreaded, though it wasn’t that spicy.

I also enjoyed the pepper pork, which was seasoned with pepper and came with green peppers. Meanwhile, the Mongolian chicken, which is not as common as Mongolian beef is on Chinese restaurant menus, was delicious. It had lots of flavor and was moist and tender.

Other entrees include spicy pork with tofu, kung pao shrimp and peanut butter chicken.

SenjoyI have to make a point that the fried rice was nearly flavorless. Similarly, the lo mein had little flavor. I got it as a separate plate with beef ($), which was tasty and saved this dish from being a complete letdown. That was the only other item on the menu that wasn’t a part of the build-your-own plate.

Fried potstickers ($9.95 for eight) are a tasty way to start the meal. They were nice and crispy on the outside and a good amount of filling inside, and they came with spicy soy sauce on the side. Other appetizers include cream cheese wontons ($3.89) and spring rolls ($1.69).

Senjoy Chinese Cuisine is open for lunch and dinner every day.
