It’s been so long since I’ve had an ice pop that I didn’t hesitate to accept an offer to try a lineup of products from Lofty Pops.
The company was founded by siblings who wanted to create ice pops that weren’t bland and full of junk. Their version is dairy-free, gluten-free and handcrafted with real fruit and organic ingredients, but they are made in a facility that processes nuts, wheat and soy. Each ice pop has around 50-80 calories and about 13-21 g. of carbs.
I tried several of the flavors, and I thought that they all had the perfect amount of sweetness and were very satisfying. Lofty Pops’ ice pop is hardier than a typical ice pop and not just a stick of ice with flavoring. You can definitely tell the ones that are made with fruit.
- As one example, the strawberry lemon ice pop was like one large piece of delicious strawberry (which is the primary ingredient), with little black seeds and all.
Similarly, the piƱa colada version exuded the pineapple and coconut, and I like that I had to pick out some pineapple pieces from my teeth afterward.- The orange dreamsicle reminded me of my childhood with its yummy vanilla cream taste.
- The blue razzberry resembled a refreshing lemonade complemented by apple juice and lime juice.
- Imagine a hot cup of cocoa, but now freeze it. That’s exactly what the chocolate fudge flavor tasted like.
Other flavors include watermelon bliss and fruit punch.
Unfortunately, no retail stores in Wisconsin carry Lofty Pops. However, you can purchase them at the Henry Vilas Zoo.
“Our goal is to modernize frozen concessions by delivering a product that reflects how families eat today,” Lofty Pops Co-Founder Natalie Heiter said in a statement. “We’re excited to introduce Lofty Pops to families visiting the zoo and to become part of their summer traditions.”
