I eagerly accepted an offer to try Tattersall Distilling’s 7 Year Rye Whiskey and THC-infused, non-alcoholic tonics. As a bonus, Tattersall is a Wisconsin-based company.
For those not familiar, Tattersall is located in River Falls, which is a slight detour south of I-94 if you’re headed to the Twin Cities. The company makes spirits (including Birkie Wi-Ski), liqueurs and canned cocktails.
The 7 Year Rye Whiskey ($64.99 for 750 ml) is Bottled in Bond at 100 proof and made from single-farm-sourced rye, 85% blended AC Hazlet and Bono rye varietals, with 15% malted rye. It was so smooth that it reminded me of bourbon, and I enjoyed the tasting notes of caramel and vanilla.
I mostly drank the 7 Year Rye Whiskey neat because it was so good, but I also enjoyed it in a Manhattan on the rocks. Of note, Tattersall also makes a Port Barreled Rye and a 5 Year Rye.
I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Tattersall has gotten into THC beverages. The first is Uplift ($59.99 for 750 ml), a premium THC-infused, non-alcoholic tonic designed with social wellness in mind. It includes lion’s mane for cognition and immunity, as well as rhodiola rosea for energy and endurance.
Meanwhile, Unwind ($59.99 for 750 ml) is a non-alcoholic THC tonic designed to help you find your level of mellow. It is infused with reisha for stress reduction and passion flower for calming and relaxing.
I found both tonics to be bright in flavor, with the Uplift reminding me of limoncello and the Unwind sporting slight berry and floral flavors. I was also impressed by how much THC is in the tonics, with 4 mg in a 1 oz. pour.
I liked both tonics served neat, but they also work well with ice and club soda to add some volume to your drink.
