(MADISON, Wis.)--A bridesmaid no more.

After narrowly taking second place last year, Brasserie V was the overwhelming choice for having the best burgers in the area in the annual EatDrinkMadison.com poll.

Once neck-and-neck with second-place Tony Frank's, Brasserie V pulled ahead in the final week of voting to win with 80 percent of the vote. Meanwhile, Tony Frank's had 19 percent, and Dotty Dumpling's garnered one percent in the final round of voting, which took place May 16-29.

EatDrinkMadison.com will present Brasserie V with a framed certificate and make the announcement through social media channels.

The poll was conducted in May, during National Hamburger Month. Two-time defending champion Blue Moon did not advance past the first round (May 1-15), which featured 19 area restaurants and bars.

In conjunction with the contest, one voter was selected to win a $50 gift certificate to the winning restaurant and a $15 iTunes gift card. This year's winner has the Twitter handle @karybeck.
